Baby Skin Rash And Acne

Itches and rash are often experienced by babies. Sometimes babies also get acne. There is no age limit or no starting age really as to when these problems can occur, and sometimes skin problems already as soon as the baby is born.

Further Explanation

There are many different forms of baby skin conditions. It is very important that you find out what irritation your baby suffers from in order to ensure correct treatment.

This is best done by visiting a doctor, as it is unsafe to decide what the problem is all on your own. You may after awhile become more accustomed to identifying certain kind conditions but you should always seek another opinion from a doctor or a dermatologist.

Common Problems

Eczema is a common skin condition suffered by babies. It is in fact uncomfortable to deal with at any age. It is usually characterized as itchy and patchy skin. Atopic dermatitis is another name for it but this condition is more often than not known as baby eczema.

Sometimes this itchy, red, patchy skin flares up. This could be for a variety of reasons. This area of skin can also become very sensitive.

There are many reasons why (besides genetics) that inflammation occurs in the skin. Constant scratching and rubbing of the affected areas as well as excess dry skin are among the number one causes.

Using soaps with too high of a pH value or using the wrong detergents can also cause problems. Exposure to extreme heat or cold as well as excessive use of moisturizers can also be a problem, and so can using the wrong kinds of clothing or blankets (i.e. wool).

Acne is also another common problem occurring among newborns especially. It also could occur later on in life if a baby’s clothing or blankets are too warm. The use of the wrong detergent may cause acne to form, and too high of humidity is another culprit.

Acne may be a sign of an allergic reaction in some cases. However, in other cases it is a cause of dirt and buildup that occurs as a result of too much sweating.

Solutions

Depending what the problem is, certain baby lotions can help keep the skin moist. This helps clear up the problem dramatically. Giving the baby short baths in lukewarm water regularly also may help.

If you opt for bathing, usually shorter baths more frequently is recommended over longer baths less times. You should avoid using the wrong cleansers as well, and they should not be used unless the baby’s skin is very dry.

More Advice

You should be careful. What may work to help one baby may not necessarily work for another. You should be particularly careful when using steroid creams, as one may type may not necessarily work.

In this case as well as any other you are advised once again to consult with a pharmacist or doctor. This should be done before you decide to just pick any old random brand or item off the shelf.
