Every stage of a child’s development has its own. For instance, during the first six months of life a baby is developing its reflex and motor skills. The coordination of limb movements takes place along with the development of muscles and the advancement of intellectual functioning.

At this point in life, a newborn baby’s play is mostly spontaneous. However, this does not mean that the use of more intellectually advance toys should be postponed. All this mental and physical stimulation now is not likely to hurt a baby at all.

The baby’s growth stages during this short time are broken down like this:

Birth (o months) to 2 months-During this time, the child will not need plastic rattles. Instead, they might make more use out of softer toys. For instance, you can sew some balls from fabric scraps of different textures. For example, you can use knitted, flannel, silk, or wool fabrics. You can also use synthetic padding or use foam rubber and wool threads.

2 to 4 months- child’s feelings, emotions and will are developed. This is a time when his perception of the world begins to heighten as his sense of hearing, vision, and touch are developed. This is a time when your child may like to play “peak-a-boo” or they might enjoy playing with just an ordinary handkerchief.

4 to 6 months-Coordination of movements is most actively developed at this age. The same applies to emotional and psychological relationship with their parents. This is the period when they probably form one of the strongest bonds with mom and dad that they may have for their entire life. During this time is when rubber toys are most often used, and this is an appropriate time to play games where the baby tries to get toys out of a box.

The above is just three major examples of what can be accomplished during a child’s development within the first six months. You can probably find endless ways to entertain and train your baby while helping him or her grow intellectually.
