Taking Care Of The Baby Clothes

There are many reasons to take care of baby clothes. The better you take care of them the less money you will have to spend on them, but it is also done for another important reason.

Taking care of baby clothing properly reduces chances of allergy. It also reduces the chance that the clothing items themselves will not be harmed.

It also helps extend the life of the clothes that you buy thus you save the time otherwise spent shopping for them. (Although shopping for kids clothing can be but, but it is very expensive and time consuming!)

Washing Tips

Taking care of your baby clothing properly can help reduce the chance that your baby has an allergic reaction. It is highly recommended that you use a soap that is intended for use on baby clothes and avoid using liquid fabric softeners in the wash cycle.

You are also advised to not dry clothing using dryer sheets, unless it is free of perfumes and dyes. A more important reason to not use them is that it is said that they remove the flame retardant substances from clothing.

However, as far as irritating a baby is concerned the only exception may be is if you try a hypoallergenic softener. It may be helpful in softening a baby’s skin. However, you should be very careful about using them.

Drying

You may have seen a drying tip above in the section entitled “Washing.” This is a more extensive guide on how to properly dry baby clothing.

One very important tip regarding this is to dry your baby’s clothing on the dryer’s lowest setting. Otherwise, the dryer heat set up too high can prevent your baby from wearing the clothing any more.

You should also wash any new clothing you have for your baby. You should wash them before your baby wears them in order to help clean them of dirt, bugs, and debris accumulated during packing and shipping.

When drying your baby clothing you should also make sure you set the timer for the appropriate time. Never dry them for any longer than necessary. Otherwise, you could cause not only damage to the clothes but worse yet a fire hazard.

Stain Removal Guide

Babies have a tendency to stain outfits. These stains sometimes can be very difficult to eliminate. Usually the best policy is to pre-treat the stain before washing the clothes.

Usually this can be done by adding some kind of soap and/or rinsing the stain out right as soon as it appears. Soaking with soap or some special stick or spray stain remover usually does the trick.

An alternative way to treat stains is to use common household ingredients such as club soda or baking soda and vinegar. No matter which home stain treatment you use it is best if you treat the stain as soon as it happens and before it is dried on.

However, you may not always catch the stain in time. In this case it may still not be too late if you use some kind of dried-on stain remover. These often appear in stick or spray form which you would apply before putting the garment in the washer.
