Clothes For Infants

Parents get so excited sometimes when they find out about the arrival of a new baby. Almost immediately it seems they want to shop for the best clothes for their unborn child.

However, remember that for a newborn fanciest is not always the best. In fact, the rule of thumb is the simpler the better. This as well as other tips are shared below.

Materials

For newborn clothes, the best material out there right now is cotton. Fleece also can be used to some extent, as this is a form of cotton. Other natural clothing materials include cashmere and linen, and some clothes might be made with a cotton/polyester or cotton/spandex blend.

Usually though clothing that is made from the traditional cotton fabric is best. This is usually the softest and it also is likely to have less toxic and flammable processing chemicals in it.

On the other hand, certain kinds of cotton blends (i.e. cotton/polyester) may wrinkle less. This will help, as they do not need to be ironed as frequently.

Buying Suggestions

It is highly recommended that you buy as few items as you can get away with in a short time. After all, your newborn infant or toddler grows very fast.

You can purchase items that are loose fitting so the baby or toddler can grow into them. This prevents from having to purchase too many extra clothes.

You could, however, also plan ahead. You may even want to buy a few newborn and infant items and perhaps a few pieces of clothes that are appropriate for up to a year old.

Purchase at least a limited quantity of clothing ahead of time keeps you always prepared. It also prevents the likelihood that you will be stuck in the future with no money to even buy clothes.

Another piece of advice is to purchase at least a few items of clothing enough for four seasons. This is especially important if you live in an area of the world where the temperature changes frequently.

Of course, if you live in a place that is of a more even climate then this may not be as much of an issue. However, in many locations the weather changes enough that you would want clothes ready for summer, spring, winter, and fall.

Washing Instructions

Specific instructions on how to wash your infant and children clothing is usually provided for you by the manufacturer. Just take a look on the tag that is provided inside each garment.

This is how you will know if you need to wash it by hand or if it can be washed and/or dried. Other than that, unless otherwise specified in the manufacturer’ instruction tag you probably would be best off washing everything in warm water.

As far as laundry soap is concerned, using as mild of one as possible is recommended. One with too harsh of chemicals in it can irritate the skin. Furthermore, make sure the clothes are well dried and if the materials easily wrinkle then iron them.
